1. CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE VILLAGE AND THE SUNRISE SUITE?
Thanks for your interest in the renting of the Sunrise Suite in the rural village of Pesalakan. We are located about 20 minutes out of Ubud. Yes, you can ride your bicycle and it would take about an hour. There is one bug hill that you need to walk your bike. We recommend that you rent a motorbike instead. The price for this is about 50,000Rp or $6/day. Long term price is possible.
There is a good local market nearby that you can get fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood and meat. There is a little store in the village (about 6 minutes away) for dried goods and beverages. If you want peace and quiet it is here for you.
We are surrounded by rice fields so you can set out in any direction and have long rice field walks. There is a waterfall not too far away and small country roads to follow to the nearby towns. I enjoy making loops from one town to another. Just be sure to watch out for the dogs. Most are treated but some do like to bark and show their teeth at you. I usually carry a stick or umbrella.
We have someone who comes by to check things and make sure there is water and electricity for you.
The self contained Sunrise suite has a side and a front veranda and if there are no guests in the Sunset suite, you can use the back lotus pond veranda. We have just made another area that will become a little spa for massage and bath under the stars! There will be a table and chairs in the garden for you too.
The kitchen isn't attached to the suite and is used by both suites. There is an area above the kitchen to eat or do work there. There is internet available.
2) Is the house on the property private?
YES. IT IS THE ONLY HOUSE, OTHER THAN THE LITTLE COW HOUSES, IN THE FIELD. IT'S LIKE THE WHOLE AREA IS OUR GARDEN AS WE DON'T HAVE CONCRETE WALLS OBSTRUCTING THE VIEWS. YOU WILL SEE A FEW OF THE LOCALS COMING AND GOING FROM TENDING THIER FIELDS. THEY ARE VERY FRIENDLY BUT A LITTLE SHY. YOU MAY BE GIVEN SOME TREAT FROM THEIR OFFERING BASKETS.
MADE, OUR RIGHT-HAND-MAN WILL BE WATCHING OUT FOR YOU, FILLING THE WATER, TENDING THE GARDEN, AND ASSISTING PUTRI IN THE KITCHEN.
3. Are the rooms private or are the suites shared with others?
YES, THE ROOMS ARE VERY PRIVATE. WE WOULD LIKE TO OFFER YOU THE NEW SUNSET SUITE WHICH HAS TWO FLOORS BOTH WITH OUTDOOR SITTING AREAS AND A HUGE MARBLE AND WOOD CARVED BATHROOM. THERE ARE NO OTHER RESERVATIONS FOR THAT TIME. SO IT WILL BE VERY PRIVATE FOR YOU.
4.) How close to Ubud?
ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES BY MOTORBIKE OR CAR. WE ARE CENTRALLY LOCATED FOR EXCURSIONS INTO THE VOLCANIC MOUNTAINS OR COASTAL BEACH AREAS. THE AIR IS JUST A LITTLE COOLER THAN IN UBUD SO BRING A LIGHT SWEATER FOR EVENINGS.
5. Can you hear town noise from the house?
NO. YOU MAY HEAR THE PRAYER SONG FROM A NEARBY TEMPLE IN THE DISTANCE... FROGS, AND CRICKETS... FIRE FLIES. IT'S A SPECIAL PLACE TO BE IMMERSED IN NATURE. THE LOCAL PEOPLE ARE PART OF THE ECOSYSTEM OF THIS SPECIAL ISLAND.
I hope this helps give you an idea of the location. Although it is not within walking distance to Ubud, some guests have gone there daily for classes or meals out and say that it's always nice to return back from the crowded touristy streets (unfortunately, it's getting really crowded in Ubud - good to explore but nice to get out and back to the REAL Bali)
